Overnight Onboard the Flight

Continue your flight to Hanoi. Relax, recline, and enjoy inflight meals and services onboard.

Overnight Onboard the Flight

Welcome to Saigon – Vietnam! Upon arrival, make your own way from Tan Son Nhat airport to the center of Saigon then check-in at hotel. Leisure time to relax and get rid of jet lag.

Overnight in Saigon

You will start the day with breakfast, followed by a city tour at the Reunification Palace, the witness of the fierce Vietnam War ended in 1975. The grand building today is a Museum and Hall of official receptions. Nearby the Palace are the colonial-styled Central Post Office and the Notre Dame Cathedral, built between 1877 and 1883 and one of the city’s major landmarks. Our last stop this morning will be War Remnants Museum. Lunch will be served at local restaurant. In the afternoon, we drive overland to Cu Chi Tunnels, an incredible underground network constructed by Vietnamese guerrillas to protect the region against the American attacks during the Vietnam War. We can even crawl into a part inside the tunnel, visit their infirmary, and kitchen to discover how people had survived here. Back to your hotel later on.
Overnight in Saigon

This morning after breakfast, depart for Cai Be by car/van via Trung Luong Expressway. Upon arrival in Cai Be, have a boat ride on the Tien River. There, you can realize how diverse the area is and how rich orchard gardens are, which makes it the basket of fruit in the lower part of the Mekong River. Ramble in small villages where you will uncover the beauty of an ancient house and learn about the indigenous culture. Make a short visit to a small family business where the locals make coconut fudges and crispy rice popcorn. Savor delicious fresh fruit and feel the slow rhythms of Southern Vietnamese folk music – a kind of music entwined with the life and culture of the Mekong Delta people. Paddle through small canals – an exciting experience since you can look around, unwind, and soak up the wonderful atmosphere of the Upper Mekong Delta. Additionally, after arrival on Tan Phong Island, immerse yourself in nature's tranquility. At lunch time, you not only enjoy luscious food but also get closer to the locals as it is a chance to learn how to prepare Vietnamese specialties. The meal is cooked on your own and served in the heart of the local garden. Cycle on the village path through orchards. Meet the local islanders to learn more about the local daily life in the Mekong Delta. Visit Ba Kiệt’s ancient house. Take a boat ride back to Cai Be and meet your bus for the trip back to Ho Chi Minh City.

Overnight in Saigon

Together with our guide in Hoi An, we’ll walk over the tile-roofed Japanese Bridge, visit taciturn Chinese Assembly Halls, visit ancient houses and Trading Houses, pagodas and stroll into the market located by Thu Bon river, where we may find out the same feelings of the artists, who see the rooftops of Hoi An a magical old world of Oriental feel and source of inspiration. There is also a wonderful town to shop for lanterns, soft silk, and raw silk, or get your clothes tailored within a day.
Overnight in Hoi An

Breakfast at the hotel. There will be nothing better than a day at leisure in the ancient town of Hoian to refresh yourself and chill out your recent impression of your visits to Vietnam.

This morning, we will discover the city's charm from the Royal Citadel, Forbidden City. Move on to the colorful Dong Ba market, where you can see many ingredients for making Hue local food and explore the local business life. The best way to explore a local culture is through its unique cuisine. Around noon, we shall embark on a special street food tour to discover the other side of Hue. Our journey starts with Sticky rice dumplings on a fried dumpling (Ram It) or Filtered tapioca dumplings (Banh Loc) to the well-known Hue beef vermicelli soup (Bun Bo Hue). The street food tour finishes at a small restaurant that serves Sweet soup (Che), a scrumptious local delicacy made of tapioca and various local ingredients. Or, if the sweet soup is not your style, a Vietnamese coffee with condensed milk awaits.

I wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed our trip to Thailand, Cambodia & Vietnam. Our hotels were wonderful and we spent many late afternoons cooling off in the swimming pools. With our winters being so long in Ottawa it was a real treat to be able to swim outside in the sunshine in January and February.  Our meals were fantastic. One morning, we Canadians were enjoying dim sum and sushi for breakfast and the orientals had plates of bacon and eggs. I thought this was quite humorous. Our meals were very tasty and interestingly different from what we normally get at home. I got particularly fond on fresh mango juice for lunch and dinner. And, the beer was cheap - really cheap. Last night, the Amazing Race took place in Vietnam and it brought back many happy memories of the congested roads of motorcycling commuters and us trying to cross without mishap. Great fun. Thanks so much for your assistance in making this a wonderful experience.
